April 23rd-27th Class News

Phonics: We have added our third special sound chart. I will send those home and they should be going over them every night. They are learning how to circle special sounds as well as reading words with those sounds in them. We have also been doing reading groups and they are doing great!

Vowel Rules:

When there is one vowel in a word, it makes the short vowel sound and we put a smiley face on top. (cat, cup, bag, etc.)

When there are two vowels in a word, the first vowel says its name and the second vowel is silent. We put a stick on top the first and we cross out the second. ( cape, read, main, etc.)

Numbers: We are going over time, money, adding, what comes before and after numbers, and number words. We have introduced time to the quarter hour. (1:15, 2:15, etc.) We are beginning subtraction this week as well.

Events: April 30th– May4th– Standardized Testing for 1st-8th grade. We are not a part of this. We just have to be very quiet.
