Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am excited for a brand new week of school! I hope you are too. We had a great first week and I am so impressed with how well behaved our Kindergarten class has been. I am looking forward to this school year with all of you! Thank you all for getting supplies in and attending Open House. If I notice there are supplies your child is missing, I will send a note home in your child’s folder. We are off to a great start!
Every week, your child will be memorizing a memory verse. I included the list of memory verses in the open house welcome packet. Please use that sheet to practice the verses throughout the year. They are in alphabetical order and we will do a different letter each week but always continue to practice the previous verses as well. Your child will recite that week’s verse for me on Fridays and will receive a memory verse card that they get to keep for reciting the memory verse correctly.
Homework will be listed at the bottom half of your child’s behavior sheet. I will include the phonics and numbers homework there and any other type of homework that comes up throughout the year. At the beginning of the year in phonics we start off reviewing our vowels. So please go over the sounds each vowel makes with your child. One way you can practice this is giving them a word and asking what vowel sound do they hear in the word. In numbers, we begin with recognizing, writing, and counting numbers 1-10. You can also go over the months of the year and days of the week until your child has them memorized.
Please make sure to check your child’s folder every day and sign in the space provided for behavior and for homework. This is very important to me so I know that you have seen it and have helped them with their homework.
Last but not least, make sure to send mostly healthy snacks with your child on their snack day. We do not want candy bars. Some suggestions would be fruit, fruit snacks, cheez itz, animal crackers, or goldfish. It is ok to send cupcakes for your child’s birthday. Just let me know ahead of time.
I will include a letter in your child’s folder every Monday. Please read it. All important information will be listed in my letters so it will definitely benefit you. I will also post this letter to our class blog so make sure you subscribe to it and the post will be emailed to you.
Always remember you can contact me by writing a letter in your child’s folder or sending me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please do not hesitate to ask me if you have any questions. I am here for you. I hope you have an amazing week! God bless!
Love in Christ,
