Parent Letter January 18th-22nd

Hope you enjoyed your 3 day weekend! Here is our class news…

Last Week: We had our marble jar party on Friday and everyone looked adorable. Thank you parents to all who sent a little snack. Watching them try seaweed was my favorite.

Phonics: Reading circles are going great! We have also started marking vowels. They are off to a great start. I will also be sending home special sound charts. Special sounds are parts of words that do not follow our vowel rules and make their own special sound in a word.

Vowel Rules:

When there is one vowel in a word, it makes the short vowel sound and you put a smiley face on top.

When there are two vowels in a word, the vowel says its name and the second vowel is silent. You put a stick on top the first vowel and cross out the second.

Numbers: We will keep practicing writing combinations for addition, telling time, counting dimes, spelling our number words, and recognizing our numbers. We are also introducing counting nickels this week.

Memory Verse of the Week: “Thou God seest me.” Genesis 16:13

Events: February 3rd– Interims Issued

February 3rd– 100th Day of School (We will dress up like we are 100 years old)

February 4th– We will dress as Dalmatians for the 101st day of school like 101 Dalmatians!

February 10th– Winter Break (NO SCHOOL)

Don’t Forget: Please don’t forget to check your child’s folder each day. I send home important information in the folders and the behavior chart/ homework chart need to be initialed every day. Also, please check the snack schedule each day because we do not want the class to have no snack.

Homework:

Monday: NO SCHOOL

Tuesday: Please practice “T” memory verse, review Blend Book pages 45-48, Book A pages 6-7, practice counting by 5’s, adding, and number words

Thursday: Practice “T” memory verse, review Book A. Also review number words, marking vowels, circling special sounds, and writing addition combinations.
