Here is our class news…

Last Week: We had a great week overall. I hope they keep it up!

Phonics: We are circling special sounds, please read the charts with your child at home. We are also marking vowels and we have begun reading! They are off to great start! We have introduced the first three special sounds on chart 7 for our special sounds this week and will continue to add on.

Special sounds are parts of words that do not follow our vowel rules and make their own special sound in a word.

Vowel Rules:

When there is one vowel in a word, it makes the short vowel sound and you put a smiley face on top.

When there are two vowels in a word, the vowel says its name and the second vowel is silent. You put a stick on top the first vowel and cross out the second.

Numbers: We will keep practicing adding, telling time, counting dimes and nickels, spelling our number words, and recognizing our numbers. This week, we are introducing time when the long hand is on the 3 (1:15, 2:15, etc.)

Memory Verse of the Week: “Exceeding great and precious promises are given unto us.”

Events: February 23rd– Kindergarten Graduation Pictures

March 7th-11th– Revival week

March 18th– Parent/Teacher Conference (No School)

March 19th– VCA Auction

Don’t Forget: Please don’t forget to check your child’s folder each day. I send home important information in the folders and the behavior chart/ homework chart need to be initialed every day. Also, please check the snack schedule each day because we do not want the class to have no snack. Tomorrow is Kindergarten Graduation pictures. Cap and gowns are provided by the photographer. For girls, please do not put hair on top of head or wear bows because the caps need to fit. If you have not sent in order forms and money for pictures, please send in tomorrow. Also, please keep readers in your child’s folder or in the school bag. They need to use them for reading circles and I do not have extras. Last but not least. Please make sure your child is in correct uniform. Socks must cover ankles, shoes must be black or white, girls must have shorts under their jumpers, boy must wear belts, and shirts must be sucked in. Outerwear must also be of school color. Sweaters and jackets must be navy blue.
