April 25th-29th Parent Newsletter

Happy Monday! It is testing week for upper school. Please be praying our students do their best! Here is our class news…

Phonics: We are circling special sounds, please read the charts with your child at home. They should be memorizing these charts so they know exactly which letters or blends are specials sounds. We are also marking vowels and we are reading!

Numbers: We will keep practicing subtracting, adding, telling time, counting dimes and nickels, spelling our number words, and recognizing our numbers. We are now making sure they recognize the quarter as well.

Memory Verse of the Week: We will be doing Psalm 23 for our graduation. Please have them practice this part this week…

Even though I walk     through the darkest valley,[a] I will not be afraid,     for you are close beside me; your rod and your staff,     protect and comfort me.

April 11th-15th Parent Newsletter

Happy Monday! I hope you had a restful weekend, here is our newsletter….

Last Week: We had our field trip to see Alice in Wonderland. It was very cute and I think the kids enjoyed it! Thank you to all the parents who came and chaperoned. You were a huge help!

Phonics: We are circling special sounds, please read the charts with your child at home. They should be memorizing these charts so they know exactly which letters or blends are specials sounds. We are also marking vowels and we are reading!

Special sounds are parts of words that do not follow our vowel rules and make their own special sound in a word.

Vowel Rules:

When there is one vowel in a word, it makes the short vowel sound and you put a smiley face on top.

When there are two vowels in a word, the vowel says its name and the second vowel is silent. You put a stick on top the first vowel and cross out the second.

Numbers: We will keep practicing subtracting, adding, telling time, counting dimes and nickels, spelling our number words, and recognizing our numbers. We are now making sure they recognize the quarter as well.

Memory Verse of the Week: We have completed our memory verses! Please keep practicing because we all need to know the Bible and use it in our times of need.

Events: April 12th– Posh Paint in house Field trip

Don’t Forget: Please don’t forget to check your child’s folder each day. I send home important information in the folders and the behavior chart/ homework chart need to be initialed every day. Also, please check the snack schedule each day because we do not want the class to have no snack. Please keep readers in your child’s folder or in the school bag. They need to use them for reading circles and I do not have extras. Tomorrow is our Posh Paint Pub field trip. Money has already been collected and we do not need chaperones.
